How to Cover CKCS Textbooks

Parents -- Covering CKCS hardcover textbooks with paper helps protect books and extend the life of our books and budget! Please take some time to teach your children about the value of school resources and how to cover their own books!

Never covered a book before? It's simple. Here's how:

1) Take a standard paper grocery bag and cut down one corner from top to bottom. Cut off the bottom entirely, opening the bag to form a flat rectangular piece of paper.

2) Place the book in the center of the paper. Wrap the paper up across the bottom of the book and make a crease along the bottom. Repeat for the top. You should have a strip of paper big enough to cover the book from top to bottom.

3) Place the book back in the center of the paper. Wrap the paper across the front of the book and the back of the book, closing and opening the book to ensure a comfortable fit. Adjust the book position until the two ends of the paper are even. If the flaps folded over the covers are too long, trim to reach two-thirds of the way across the covers.

4) Insert the front cover of the book into the slot created by the paper folded over at the top and the bottom. Slide the paper down over the book until you hit the crease. Repeat for the back cover of the book. You will have to bend the covers 'backward' a bit with care.

5) Secure the paper cover to itself with tape if needed where it wraps around inside the book. Please do not tape the cover to the book! Put your name and subject matter on the cover and decorate!
